2.25 pm Australia have taken nine wickets after lunch for 47 runs. South Africa have been bowled out for their second lowest total since readmission. Watson took five in a blink of an eye, and Harris cleaned up the rest. This is a stunning turnaround. And the ball didn't do much at all. Certainly not as much as Steyn and Morkel did with it earlier in the day, when Australia's tail and Clarke added 70 runs. Watson and Harris just bowled wicket to wicket, with some inswing. Nothing extravagant. I need to catch my breath.

Australia lead by 188, Clarke's innings seems priceless now. How can South Africa pick themselves up from here?

Adrian: "Apart from the openers, South Africa's scorecard kinda reads like my phone number"

Harris to Imran Tahir, OUT, all over, for fewer than 100. Harris has steamed past Tahir's outside edge and crashed into the top of off stump. The ball was on a good length and straight, Tahir tried to drive from the crease and missed.

Imran Tahir b Harris 5 (15m 5b 0x4 0x6) SR: 100.00

"That's very kind of Aus to bring back Leaking Johnson instead of on-fire Watson. I suppose all out for under 100 doesn't give Aus much of a challenge," says Neil.

Harris to Steyn, 1 run, short ball and Steyn pulls towards deep midwicket

Dirk: "Jermaine Lawson topped this. He cleaned up Bangladeshis tail in Dhaka 2002. 5 in 13 balls, or even better 6 in 15."

Avi Singh: "Hey George, from S Rajesh, Ernie Toshack took 5 wickets in 15 balls as well for Australia v India way back in 1947! And I remember India getting bowled out in exactly 20 overs on day 1 in Ahmedabad by South Africa in 2008, to give Stephen one instance of a team having batted less than what South Africa have in this innings.

Jamie Alter has messaged me with this: "Andy Caddick took five in 15 balls for five runs against West Indies at Leeds in 2001." Can anyone find one quicker?

Imran Tahir is the No. 11. South Africa were 49 for 1 after lunch. They are now struggling to avoid the follow on. Stunning.

Watson to Steyn, OUT, run out! Australia are mauling South Africa. Steyn played the ball on the back foot towards mid-on and set off. Morkel was late in responding and he isn't the quickest between wickets. Siddle sprinted from mid-on, picked up, and scored a direct hit at the striker's end. Morkel was out by yards.

  • What is momentum anyway?

The m-word gets thrown about a lot in cricket, but what does it really mean?
