Australia will bat on so no follow-on. They lead by 214, a massive one as they look to close out the series. It was all over before you could blink. Steyn flashed at a wide one and Ntini was trapped in front the following ball. Siddle will be on a hat-trick when he takes the new ball soon. It's been a superb turnaround by the Australians after they collapsed yesterday morning. They'll look to pile on the agony.

Good morning and welcome to the third day of the second Test at Kingsmead. Yesterday, we witnessed one of the most enthralling days of Test cricket. Wickets tumbled, batsmen copped painful blows and the Kingsmead pitch - unusually sleepy on the opening day, finally woke up. All hopes for SA rest on JP Duminy to take them past the follow on target of 153. He's unbeaten on 73 now with Dale Steyn for company.
The weather is good to start off and play will begin very shortly.

The umpires have had a short chat and offered the light to the batsmen, who've taken it gladly. Australia have dominated the day, though it didn;t look like it when they lost their last five wickets for four runs. Johnson, though, helped them fight back, removing McKenzie and Amla in the first over. Smith was then struck on his gloves off a snorter from the same bowler, and broke his finger in the process - he'll be out for the next 2-3 weeks. Kallis played well for his 22 but another lethal delivery from Johnson inured his jaw - though not seriously.
The pitch and the conditons offered enough assistance to the bowlers, and both teams reaped high rewards. The surprise package was Andrew McDonald's spell where he removed Harris, Kallis and Morkel in fairly quick succession to push the hosts back further. Duminy held firm amid all the chaos, and Steyn has supported him well so far but they have an uphill task ahead of them.
Even if they do manage to avoid the follow-on, they're still staring at the possibility of a massive first innings lead, something they can ill-afford if they want to win this series. The pair will be hoping for a repeat of their Melbourne heroics, though the pitch might well prevent them from achieving that. However, it's been a superb day of Test cricket, something you long for as a cricket fan, given some dull contests we've had of late.
Thanks for tuning in and sending us all your feedback. On a personal note, the highlight of the day for me was Steyn's barrage of bouncers against Hussey earlier in the day. This is Siddhartha Talya signing off from the commentary. It's goodbye from all of us at Cricinfo. Adios.

Tristan: "I agree with Karan - Duminy has played well against Australia and has saved a few innings for them now, but what he hasn't faced is a quality spinner like Muralitharan or Harbhajan. He could still have a weakness"

Ashely: "Duminy is a class player period. He has caused so much grief already for Australia. Why don't we give credit where and when credit is due. For the record I am a one eyed Aussie but am not so stupid as to say that he isn't class just because he hasn't played against other teams. He has made the Aussies look fourth class at times."
Ponting has the light on his mind too, he's brought Marcus North into the attack now
