10.55pm That's it from one of the best T20 games in the last 12 months. It is going to be hard to beat the drama of this game. Bangladesh will play the final against India on Sunday, so join us then.
10.32pm That is the wildest T20 finish, ever! Another brawl as the fielders leave the field. Courtney Walsh is out there, telling everyone to CALM DOWN. He may not have been shouting, but he should have. Mahmudullah after winning the game for his team has to tell the sub fielder to relax, there's his finger wagging in the sub fielder's face.
Nothing, nothing should take that away from Mahmudullah, that's as good a finish as you would find under sooo much more pressure. There was a verbal scuffle, I hear, between Kusal Mendis and the sub fielder Nurul Hasan, who even compounded the trouble after Bangladesh won. Bangladesh needed 12 off 4 when Shakib was calling back his players, Mahmudullah had taken his helmet off and made his way towards the boundary. Then, the tournament changed. Mahmudullah scored all of those 12 in one of the innings of the year finishing with 43 off 18 to take Bangladesh into the final.
It was Sri Lanka who made the running in the final 10 of the innings after a strong start from Tamim Iqbal and a good cameo from Mushfiqur. But as happens in T20s so often, the game swings, here, then there, then back here, then back there. Eventually, it is Mahmudullah and Bangladesh who have held their nerve (well, they didn't and they did).
Just FYI, there is just one above shoulder-height delivery allowed in an over in T20Is. Bangladesh felt they were two in the first two and there should been a no-ball, then according to Tamim, they thought they saw the third umpire's hand going up to signal a no-ball. And then he didn't. That was where all the drama was triggered.
Mahmudullah is the Man of the Match: "One of my best innings. When Shakib came back, it was a big boost. Plan to strike the ball as hard as I can. When Shakib got out, I was under pressure. The confusion was because it was the first bumper, but we should forget it, happens in the game."
Thisara Perera: "Very tough game, we are disappointed. We thought we were 10-15 runs short, 160 is still reasonable."
Shakib Al Hasan: "You can't expect more than that in a T20 game, so much excitement, emotion. Credit goes to SL, losing five early wickets. We kept our nerves in the end. I knew I was not 100% as far as batting is concerned. We always had healthy competition in the ground, but outside, we are friends. Emotions take over, I need to be careful as a leader of a team, I will be careful next time."
Tamim Iqbal: Very emotional finish, we saw the leg umpire signal a no-ball, we were complaining about the no-ball. We could have done it nicely. We won't create anything bad about this incident. I did a good job, but if I could have continued a but longer, but we won so all forgotten.
6 off 2. New gloves. One hit away from the final.
8 off 3
12 of 4. The Bangladesh sub fielders having an argument with the Sri Lankan fielders. All happening here in Colombo, the umpires getting in the way, so are the umpires. The umpires now have a chat with the two batsmen. Shakib now arguing with the umpires. Is Shakib calling his guys back? He is. What happened there? It's passion taking over. Bangladesh are hanging around by the boundary. If his players come off, this will be a forfeit. Bangladesh will therefore be disqualified. But Khaled Mahmud, a cool head, tells Mahmudullah to go back and finish the game. Wild scenes here in Colombo. I think Bangladesh are disappointed that there were two over shoulder-height balls.
Mahmudullah puts back his helmet and is ready to carry on.
Mustafizur Rahman run out 0 (2b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00
12 off 5 now. Kusal P may want to stand a bit closer.
12 off 6. What an end. 11 should take this to a Super Over. Mustafizur will have strike. Mahmudullah will have to do this all on his own. He will try to steal the bye if he gets the chance.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz run out 0 (1b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00
A hit for Mehidy, he can go for it?
Asked to take on the role of a T20 finisher, he transformed his game and his team's performances with it
They have also received one demerit point each for separate incidents during their side's T20I match against Sri Lanka in Colombo
Thisara joined Kusal with Sri Lanka 41 for 5, and both batsmen tempered their naturally aggressive styles in a partnership that propelled their side to a total that came close to match-winning
Two years ago, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah were the chief protagonists in an unbelievable final-over meltdown in a crucial World T20 game. Now, in successive chases against Sri Lanka, both batsmen have shown they have learned the lessons
Aggressive bodily contact, shoving, agitated yelling, pointed fingers and a shattered dressing room door, all marred the rancorous finish and the immediate aftermath, of the Nidahas Trophy match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh
