9.39pm Good comeback from CSK. Kings XI have certainly fallen 30-40 runs short of where they would have wanted to end up at. It's actually a pretty underwhelming total, and bizarre as it feels to say that after 197 on the board, don't lose sight of the fact that they were 100 in the ninth over. This is exactly what happened with Mumbai Indians yesterday, and we all know how that ended up.
A brilliant innings from Chris Gayle as he celebrated his Kings XI debut with a belligerent fifty. KL Rahul was superb again, and valuable contributions from Mayank Agarwal and Karun Nair too.
"This morning, got a text saying, 'you'll be playing'. It's good to be back and back among the runs," says a chuffed Chris Gayle. "This is still a good batting wicket. I was looking forward to it, being given the opportunity today against a good bowling attack. It was a last-minute pick. Even if I wasn't here at the IPL, life goes on. We've got the runs on the board. It's a good wicket to bat on. Early wickets are going to be important. It's a big ground, and hopefully the bowlers can come good."
